Northwoods Caregivers has some exciting news to share! We are currently hiring a RN HCBS Home Care Coordinator in the Baudette area. A huge congratulations to Karen Bedeau! Karen was recently honored at the Elders Brain Health Gathering at the Minneapolis American Indian Center for her dedicated work supporting elders and caregivers across our region. As Northwoods Caregivers’ Dementia Outreach Advocate and the driving force behind our Honoring Elder Wisdom Conference, Karen brings cultural knowledge, compassion, and unwavering commitment to every family she serves. We are incredibly proud of her and grateful for the impact she makes every day. This recognition is deeply deserved, and we are thrilled to celebrate her achievement. Are you managing an ongoing health condition? Take control of your health with our Chronic Disease Self Management or Diabetes Self Management workshops starting September 16th. Gain confidence in managing your condition and get connected with resources by our trained facilitators and partner Sanford Better Choices, Better Health. If you are aged 60+ and would like to register, please call Jenn 218-333-8097. 

Our 27th Annual Senior Community Clean Up is right around the corner! This years event will take place Saturday October 24th, 2026. Every year we help seniors rake their yards in preparation for winter. If you would like to volunteer, please sign up on our website here: https://northwoodscaregivers.org/senior-cleanup-day/

If you are registering a group, please have the group leader register the entire group. Individuals also welcome to register online, you may be paired with another group on the day of the event. 

If you are a senior aged 60+ and live in the Bemdiji city limits, you can register for free leaf raking. Please call 218-333-8265 and leave a message with your name and address. A registration form will be mailed to you, please fill it out and return in the self addressed stamped envelope provided.

• September 8th: Cass Lake Caregiver Support Group at St. Peters Episcopal Church 1:00-2:30.
• September 9th: Beltrami County Autumn Job Fair 11:00-2:00.
• September 9th: Bemidji Caregiver Support Group at the Evangelical Covenant Church 1:00-3:00.
• September 15th: Blackduck Caregiver Support Group at the Blackduck Senior Center 10:30-12:00.
• September 15th: Red Lake Caregiver Support Group at the Red Lake Senior Apartments 1:00-2:30.
• September 16th-October 21st: Chronic Disease Self-Management and Diabetes Self-Management Virtual Classes. To register, call 218-333-8264. We will be offering both classes in both Dancing Sky Area Agency on Aging and Central MN Council on Aging regions. Your facilitator will be Earlene Buffalo or Jenn Cole depending on your county of residence. 
• September 23rd: Bemidji Caregiver Support Group at the Evangelical Covenant Church 1:00-3:00.
